A Must-Read for Freezing Cucumbers

Cucumbers have a refreshingly crunchy texture with a hint of sweetness. They’re delicious served cold or in stir-fries. If you can’t finish your cucumbers right away and want to freeze them, freezing them whole is the best way to preserve them.

Freezing Cucumbers

Step 1: Wash the cucumbers and pat dry with paper towels.

Step 2: Wrap each cucumber individually in freezer-safe plastic wrap (refer to the packaging instructions and temperature rating label).

Step 3: Place all the cucumbers in a freezer-safe ziplock bag, slightly expel the air, seal the bag, and freeze. They’ll keep for about 2-3 weeks.

Thawing Instructions

Step 1: Remove the cucumbers from the ziplock bag, but leave the plastic wrap on. Rinse and thaw them with water. Only rinse until the cucumber is partially thawed; do not defrost completely, as this will affect the texture of the dish. After rinsing, remove the plastic wrap and squeeze out any excess water from the cucumber.

Step 2: Cut the cucumber into small pieces as desired. Since it is partially thawed, it is easy to cut. Squeeze out any excess water from the cucumber and you are ready to cook.
