Tomato Pasta Sauce Recipes

Tomato-flavored pasta sauce is readily available at supermarkets and other stores, but you can also make your own if you have the time. It’s perfect for a variety of dishes, such as stews, soups, and grilled dishes, making it easy to use up quickly.

Stews Recipes

Simply add tomato pasta sauce and a suitable amount of water to a pot, and you can easily stew a variety of ingredients, including vegetables and meat. Here’s how to make a tomato-flavored potato stew. You can also add beef and other ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • Approximately 900g potatoes (cut into pieces)
  • 1 cup tomato pasta sauce
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions:

First, heat the olive oil in a pot, then sauté the onion until softened. Add garlic cloves, potatoes, and tomato pasta sauce to the pot, then add water to cover the potatoes.
Add basil, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender. Stir occasionally.

Soups and Noodle Soups

To make a tomato-flavored soup, you can either use tomatoes directly or make a tomato pasta sauce. Here’s a delicious tomato soup recipe that uses heavy cream to minimize the red color.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon cream
  • 700g tomato pasta sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions:

Combine the basil and cream in a pot and heat until the cream melts and the basil is fragrant. Pour tomato pasta sauce and water into a pot and cook over high heat for about 3-4 minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat and add heavy cream, stirring occasionally.
Finally, add pepper and serve.
Besides making tomato puree, we can also use tomato pasta sauce as a base for noodle soups; see the recipe below.

Making a Boiling Sauce

Tomato pasta sauce can be combined with other seasonings to create a variety of delicious boiling sauces, like the tomato vinaigrette for the seared chicken breast recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 450g chicken breast
  • 2 cups tomato pasta sauce
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

Instructions:

Pan-fry the chicken breast for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and set aside. Pour tomato pasta sauce and balsamic vinegar into a pot, stirring, and bring to a boil. Add the chicken breast back to the pot and cook for about 5 minutes, until cooked through.

Tomato pasta sauce can also be mixed with soy sauce to create a salty-sweet sauce. See the tomato meatball recipe below.

Stir-frying and grilling

Using tomato pasta sauce to stir-fry or grill vegetables, meat, and other ingredients is a common method. It allows you to swap the usual soy sauce flavor for a sweet and sour tomato flavor.
