How to Refrigerate Pitaya

Place the dragon fruit in its original packaging or in a plastic bag. Remove as much air as possible, seal the bag, and refrigerate. It will keep for about 2-3 days. If you can’t finish it, freeze it.

How to Freeze Pitaya

Frozen dragon fruit can keep for about a month. The freezing steps are as follows:

  • Step 1: Wash, peel, and cut the dragon fruit into small pieces.
  • Step 2: Place the dragon fruit flat in a freezer-safe ziplock bag. Remove as much air as possible, seal the bag, and freeze it.

Thaw:

Let the dragon fruit stand at room temperature for about 5 minutes until it is partially thawed and ready to eat.

How to Freeze Pitaya for Smoothies

  • Step 1: Wash, peel, and cut the dragon fruit into small pieces. Place the fruit in a freezer-safe ziplock bag.
  • Step 2: Add 2-3 tablespoons of honey, jam, condensed milk, or other ingredients (or nothing at all) to the bag. Seal the bag and mash the dragon fruit from the outside. Place flat in the freezer for storage.

How to Serve:

Break the frozen dragon fruit smoothie into bite-sized pieces, or gently mash the smoothie inside the bag until it becomes a smooth paste before pouring it out.
