How to store Chinese cabbage: Refrigerate or freeze
Store a whole head of Chinese cabbage: Refrigerate
It’s recommended to wrap the cabbage with paper towels. Then, place it in a plastic bag, tie the bag shut, and refrigerate it upright. Before wrapping the cabbage, you can add three toothpicks to the core to prevent it from growing. This will keep it for about three weeks.
Store cut cabbage: Refrigerate
First, remove the core to slow down the aging process. Then, wrap the cabbage and the cut end with paper towels and place them in a ziplock bag or large plastic bag. Remove as much air as possible from the bag, seal the bag, and refrigerate.
Store Chinese cabbage: Freeze
After washing the cabbage, cut it into pieces or shreds as desired. Pat the cabbage dry with paper towels and place it in a freezer-safe ziplock bag. Remove as much air as possible from the bag, seal the bag, and freeze. Keeps well for over a month.
If you’re using frozen Chinese cabbage, you don’t need to thaw it first; you can cook it right away.
