‘庵埠老爷大细目’
‘庵埠老爷大细目’ is a Teochew proverb,which Literally means AnBu Earth God’s eyes are of different sizes.In fact, it is used to describe someone who does things unfairly and is biased towards some people.
’庵埠‘ is a county of Teochew.’老爷’ means Earth God in Teochew.’大细目’ means uneven eyelids.

2 ‘big foot’ beggars
Once upon a time, there were two beggars, both suffering from a leg called ‘大脚胴'(“bigfoot,” )or elephantiasis.
AnBu Earth God’s first Apparition
They begged for alms and spent the night in temples.
One day, Beggar A spent the night at the Xianxi Temple in Anbu. In the middle of the night, he had a vision of the Earth God descending and performing a spell on him, saying, “My disciple has a boot. Peel it off and hang it in the hall.”
He awoke at dawn. Just as he was about to lift his leg, he suddenly felt the swelling disappear. Miraculously, he had healed.
AnBu Earth God’s 2nd Apparition
He immediately went to tell Beggar B the good news.
Beggar B was surprised to see Beggar A approaching with such a brisk pace. Upon hearing the truth, he was overjoyed.
That night, he also went to the temple to sleep, hoping that the Earth God would appear again.
But this time, the deity said, “A boot hangs in the hall. My disciple, please peel it off and make a pair.”
Beggar B woke up with a start and felt a heaviness in his lower limbs. Upon feeling it, he realized his good leg was also afflicted.
From then on, he dragged his swollen feet around to beg. He cursed everyone he met, ‘庵埠老爷大细目'(AnBu Earth God is playing favorites). Over time, this became a popular saying in the Teochew.
