Chef’s Tip: Adjusting the Doneness of Hard-Boiled Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs are convenient and nutritious, and there are many ways to enjoy them. You can eat them plain with a little salt, make them into egg salad, or simmer them with other ingredients to create a delicious braised egg. However, if you just want to enjoy them plain, adjusting the doneness can be a bit tricky.

How to Adjust the Doneness of Hard-Boiled Eggs?

Everyone has their own preferred doneness for hard-boiled eggs, especially the yolk. But sometimes, it’s hard to cook them to the desired doneness. Here’s a method to help you adjust the doneness of hard-boiled eggs more precisely.

Ingredients
Medium-sized eggs (approximately 61-62g including the shell)

Instructions
Step 1: Remove the eggs from the refrigerator. There’s no need to thaw them to room temperature.

Step 2: Bring enough water to cover the hard-boiled eggs in a pot and bring the water to a boil.

Step 3: Once the water is boiling, add the eggs to the pot and cook over medium heat.

Step 4: The most important thing is how long to cook over medium heat. Please refer to the timing chart.

Step 5: Once the eggs are cooked according to the time chart, immediately remove them from the pot and soak them in cold water. This will prevent the eggs from becoming overcooked due to residual heat. Then, simply peel the eggs and enjoy!
