Using Condensed Milk to Marinate Meat
Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of condensed milk to the marinade and marinate the pork or chicken. Condensed milk pairs particularly well with coconut milk, if you’re curious.
Ingredients:
5 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 cup condensed milk
2 tablespoons fish sauce (optional)
1 tablespoon dried chili flakes (optional)
Instructions:
Chop the garlic cloves and combine with the salt, black pepper, condensed milk, fish sauce, and dried chili flakes in a mixing bowl or other container of your choice. Mix well and marinate the pork or chicken for 1-2 hours. You can marinate overnight, but remember to refrigerate. Condensed milk is also commonly added to satay marinades.
Using Condensed Milk for Ice Cream
You can also use condensed milk in place of sugar when making ice cream! Now, let’s make a super simple condensed milk ice cream. All you need are heavy cream and condensed milk.
Ingredients:
1 can condensed milk (approximately 397g)
2 cups heavy cream
Additional Notes:
If you’d like to add vanilla extract, reserve 1 teaspoon.
Instructions:
- Pour the condensed milk into a large bowl.
- (If using vanilla extract,) Add the vanilla extract to the condensed milk and mix well.
- Pour the heavy cream into a mixing bowl and beat with a stand or handheld electric mixer.
- Place a small amount of the whipped cream in the large bowl with the condensed milk and mix until combined. This will slightly thin out the condensed milk and make it less thick for the next step.
- Pour the remaining whipped cream into the bowl and use a spatula to gently fold it into the condensed milk. Be careful not to overmix; stop if you see any lumps.
- Use a spatula to pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Smooth the surface of the mixture evenly and cover with parchment paper to prevent crystallization.
- Freeze the container for at least 6 hours before serving.
