How to store oranges?

How can you keep those juicy, tart, and sweet oranges long after you buy them? Today, we’ll share how to refrigerate and freeze oranges. Oranges, in particular, taste even sweeter when frozen. If you’re interested, feel free to follow along.

Storing Oranges: Refrigerate

Instructions

Step 1: Wrap each orange in a paper towel. If you prefer to use newspaper instead of paper towel, choose a less-printed paper.

Step 2: Place all wrapped oranges, stem-side down, in a ziplock bag. Release as much air as possible and seal the bag.

Step 3: Place the ziplock bag and oranges in the refrigerator. Remember to keep the bag stem-side down. This will keep for about two weeks.

Storing Oranges: Freezing

Frozen oranges are sweeter because the fructose increases their sweetness. Here are the steps for freezing oranges.

Instructions

Step 1: Wash and dry the oranges.

Step 2: Place each orange individually in a freezer-safe plastic wrap bag or wrap each in freezer-safe plastic wrap. Place all oranges in a freezer-safe plastic wrap bag. Remove as much air as possible from the bag and seal it tightly.

Step 3: Freeze directly in the refrigerator. It will keep for about one month. To enjoy the frozen oranges, simply thaw them naturally at room temperature until the rind is slightly soft to the touch and then begin peeling. Thawing naturally takes about 30 minutes. For a quicker thawing, soak the oranges in hot water to soften the rind more quickly.
