While the entire pea pod can be eaten, it’s common to remove the two tougher fibers on either side before cooking them to enhance the texture. Here’s a simple method for removing both sides of a pea pod simultaneously, using just a toothpick.
A Quick Method to Remove Both Sides of a Pea Pod
Step 1: Insert a toothpick directly below the stem of the pea pod.

Step 2: Grab the stem and fold it slightly. Then, pull the stem and the toothpick sideways and downward.

This will quickly remove the thick strings from both sides of the pea pod.
You can also use a toothpick without a toothpick. As shown in the picture below, simply break off a small section below the stem (without breaking the thick strings on either side). Then, pull the stem sideways and downward to quickly remove both thick strings.
