Two Tips for Cooking Soft Peanuts

Steaming, boiling, or roasting peanuts in a rice cooker will each yield a different texture. Choose your method based on your preference. I’ll share two simple cooking tips for easily cooking soft and delicious peanuts.

Two Tips for Cooking Soft and Delicious Peanuts

The first tip is to prepare 1 pound of peanuts, 1000ml of drinking water, and 6 tablespoons of salt before cooking. Soak the peanuts with their skins for 6 hours, or the peeled peanuts for 2 hours, then rinse them briefly. If you’re using them for sweet soups, it’s recommended to rinse them three times and drain them thoroughly.

The second tip is to freeze the drained peanuts overnight. Remove them from the refrigerator and start cooking. Whether you’re using them as a side dish, stew, or sweet soup, you can easily cook them to soft and fluffy texture!

Three Simple Peanut Recipes

  1. Peanut Salad: Boil 1 pound of peanuts, 1200ml of water, an appropriate amount of star anise, and diced carrots for 40 minutes. Add cucumber and sesame oil, mix well, and season with salt to taste.
  2. Peanut Pork Trotter Soup: Blanch the pork trotters and add peanuts and ginger slices. Add to a pot, add water, and simmer for 40 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Traditional Sweet Peanut Soup: Bring the peanuts to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low and simmer for 40 minutes. Add sugar to adjust the sweetness to your desired level, then turn off the heat and serve in a bowl. Enjoy!
