Teochew Fried Tofu Air Fryer Recipe

Teochew fried tofu is traditionally deep-fried, with garlic and salted water as the dipping sauce. It's simple and delicious, but it might be too greasy for dieters. So I tried using an air fryer, coating the tofu with oil. The video shows my entire experiment, especially the crucial timing.

Notes

Teochew fried tofu is traditionally deep-fried, with garlic and salted water as the dipping sauce. It's simple and delicious, but it might be too greasy for dieters. So I tried using an air fryer, coating the tofu with oil. The video shows my entire experiment, especially the crucial timing.
Steps:
1. Coat the tofu with oil.
2. Cut into evenly sized pieces.
3. First trial, thicker tofu, 200°C for 30 minutes.
4. Scorch the surface.
5. Second trial, thinner tofu, 200°C for 20 minutes.
6. Open the oven at the eighth minute and check.
7. Open the oven at the tenth minute and check it's done. Turn off the oven and remove the tofu.
So, for air frying tofu: 200°C for 1cm thick tofu, 10 minutes is sufficient.
To make the dipping sauce:
1. Chop the garlic.
2. Pour boiling water.
3. Add salt.
4. Stir.
The fried tofu can be eaten directly by dipping it in the prepared salt water.
